Child-Centered
play therapy was developed by Dr. Garry Landreth based on the
foundational principles and work by Carl Rogers. Dr. Landreth,(1991;
2002; 2012) describes CCPT as “a developmentally responsive, play-based
mental health intervention for young children ages 3 to 10 who are
experiencing social, emotional, behavioral and relational disorders.”
This workshop will focus on the CCPT foundational concepts in the
process of play therapy.
Objectives:
- Participants will discuss 2 foundational concepts in CCPT.
- Participants will analyze 3 play therapy key concepts in CCPT.
- Participants will describe the role of the clinician, client, and caregivers in CCPT.
- Participants will critique 2 CCPT concepts in relation to other play therapy theoretical orientations.
- Participants will discuss utilizing CCPT within their own practice.
- Participants will practice 2 CCPT tracking skills.
