Healing Fragmentation: The Brain-Body Reconnect

Description

Trauma severs bonds with self and others while healing trauma makes space for bonding sensations and emotions associated with the body. This session will explore the neurobiology of fragmentation in the brain-body connection and the potential for reconnection of an embodied, fully alive self in the aftermath of trauma. The therapeutic focus of this three-hour interactive session will be the potential for healing fragmentation using EMDR.
Training objectives:

  1. Identify memory processing fragmentation in both neurological and clinical presentations.
  2. Recognize challenges to fragmentation in treatment-seeking behaviors.
  3. Explore memory processing fragmentation treatment methods with a focus on EMDR.

Brooke advocates for social change and hopes to foster meaningful dialogue."

  • Alyssa Pratt, LCSW

    Alyssa Pratt is a licensed social worker and therapist at Uplift Christian Counseling in Oklahoma City. She completed her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Michigan and spent ten years as a hospice social worker before transitioning to her current position. Alyssa is EMDR certified and currently in consultation to become an EMDR consultant. She specializes in treating grief, trauma, and anxiety disorders. She has presented at Trinity Health Hospital – Ann Arbor, Southern Nazarene University, and the Oklahoma Social Work Summit on many topics related to memory, grief, and mental health. Alyssa is also the current Vice President of Twinless Twins Support Group International, a nonprofit organization specializing in grief related to twin/multiple loss.
