Description
This workshop will focus on utilizing culturally sensitive holiday
observances in relationship to play therapy interventions.Experiential
interventions will be presented with culturally specific inclusiveness
for client’s needs. Adaptations will be considered based on each
clinician’s practice environments and settings.
Objectives:
- Participants will discuss 2 culturally relevant activities in relationship to therapeutic activities and theoretical modalities during holiday observances.
- Participants will analyze 3 culturally aware play therapy techniques in at least two foundational or seminal play therapy theories.
- Participants will describe the role of the clinician, client, and caregivers in relationship to DEI & J in the play therapy model being discussed.
- Participants will critique 2 DEI & J holiday play therapy activities in relation to play therapy theoretical orientations.
- Participants will discuss utilizing different theoretical play therapy interventions within their own practice.
- Participants will practice 2 DEI &J within their play therapy skills.

Casie Brittain MSW, LCSW, RPT-S, EAGALA Certified Mental Health/Equine Specialist. Mrs. Brittain is also certified in AutPlay and currently in the process of obtaining certification in TRE (Trauma Release Exercises). Mrs. Brittain has worked in a variety of settings over the past 20 years: OKDHS, community mental health, adult substance abuse residential treatment, youth & family services, mobile crisis services, and private practice. Mrs. Brittain has been a trainer for the CS Institute of Play Therapy for the past 3 years where her focus has been utilizing sensory integration for emotional and behavioral regulation for neuro-divergent children.
