Shortage of Community Preceptors for Future Physicians

This session will highlight the unique role of community-based faculty in delivering Osteopathic educational programs and review motivating factors and barriers that limit or promote involvement in clinical teaching. Attendees will discuss the importance of feedback and incentives in motivating participation in the educational program, as well as providing resources to improve teaching quality. Strategies and tools available in the Preceptor Expansion Initiative to motivate, mentor, monitor and maintain community-based preceptor involvement in medical education will be shared. This program is in collaboration with the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Teacher (STFM) for the ACOFP Clinical Preceptor Education Series.
