CRT2241 Building social and emotional skills in secondary students

Presenter: Brendan Tollit

Description:
Developing emotional and social intelligence in students is an important cultural development for both the person and their community. Students who are aware of, and can control, or express their emotions in a healthy manner are able to handle relationships effectively. In this session a range of techniques and activities will be explored to assist in the daily routines and interactions within a classroom. It is not an easy task for CRTs to build emotional and social skills if school placements are short term, however, the skills and knowledge will be valuable, and transferable to many different community environments where teachers may be involved.
