G16 Newport 1919: Artists, archival literacy, and a century old sex scandal

Description

Undercover Navy recruits were sent to solicit--and in many cases initiate--sexual relations with both civilian and enlisted men, in a homophobic 1919 sting operation later known as the Newport Sex Scandal. However, lacking archival literacy we found approaching the archives a more daunting process than perhaps it needed to be.
