P12 Project Omega: Creating a Linked Data Catalogue for the National Archives

Description

In 2019, the National Archives (TNA) started the innovative Project Omega to reengineer their catalogue and replace the legacy editorial management system, in line with our strategies of Inclusion, Entrepreneurship, and Disruption. Using linked data, the new catalogue will improve the representation of TNA's data, especially record provenance, and open up new possibilities for linking data and expressing alternative narratives around the records. We present a new approach to modelling catalogue data, one that is inclusive of the needs of born-physical, born-digital and digitised records, and the application of Agile methodologies to developed a infrastructure and editorial interface, supporting archival labour, through which this data will be managed.
