Validity Periods & Renewal vs. Recertification

The PSAI's CPSP/CPSA Certification is valid for 3 years and can be renewed twice (2x). After 2 renewals (9 years since the initial certification) an individual must recertify by retaking and passing the Certification Exam.

Please note that certification terms and requirements vary by state, and that state terms and requirements may differ from the PSAI's, so check with your local regulator to ensure you are compliant with their standards.

The PSAI is allowing those with certifications that have expired since March 27, 2019, to complete their 1st renewal through December 31, 2025. Failure to renew on or before this date will require recertification. Those with certifications that expired on or before March 26, 2019, must recertify. Questions? Contact the PSAI.

How to Renew

You will need to review the PSAI's Certification Code of Ethics and provide proof of six (6) Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) from industry-related trainings within the past three years to renew your credential. CEH's are calculated according to the following formula: 60 minutes = 1 CEH. These trainings could include, but are not limited to, PSAI Virtual Roundtables, PSAI Trainings, PSAI Nuts & Bolts Conference, PSAI Trade Show, and other industry educational programs. Wondering if an activity will count towards your 6 CEH's? Contact the PSAI

Once you have submitted your materials and paid the renewal fee, the PSAI will review your application. You should receive notice of approval or denial within two (2) business days of submission. Once the PSAI has approved your application, you will be able to download a new certificate and wallet card with your new issue date.

If you do not receive a response within two (2) business days of submission or if you have any questions, please email Certifications@PSAI.org.
