Dr. Tracy Loper will share his extensive experience treating mature adult patients with mental illness. He will discuss challenges with medications, compliance, and relapse, as well as existing community services to improve quality of life and encourage independence.
Dr. Loper will share information about Autumn Life Center, the inpatient psychiatric unit for older adults and THRIVE, the intensive outpatient program for older adults at OU Health Edmond Medical Center. Dr. Loper will discuss the different ways mental health disorders in older adults present and the problems and challenges with delirium versus dementia. He will also discuss the challenges of polypharmacy and what to do, as well as resources in the community.
Courses expire 30 days after purchase.
All On-demand/pre-recorded courses are approved for continuing education for Oklahoma LPCs and LMFTs, LADCs and CADCs (Provider # 20240018), and LCSWs (Provider # 202400088). On-demand/pre-recorded courses do not qualify for NBCC credit at this time.
Treatment Objectives Include:

-Review current best-practice guidelines for medication administration and titration
- Explore the benefit of community resources in recovery and continued stability of persons with mental illness.

Dr. Tracy Loper
Dr. Loper is double board certified in Family Medicine and Psychiatry. He earned his medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Coral Gables, Florida, completing his medical degree training through the Royal College of Surgeons, Waterford, Ireland. He completed a dual residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Tulsa.
Dr. Loper completed additional training in psychopharmacology and psychiatric care of the medically ill through Harvard Medical School Massachusetts General Hospital psychiatry seminars. He also is a medical officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, Medical Corps.
