Determination of Slot Size From Sieve Analysis Data

Program description:
This is a two-part class with a lecture and student problem. The class will cover the proper selection of slot size and filter pack for a water supply well. Basic design parameters will be discussed including types of well completions both natural developed and filter packed wells. Instruction will be given in the basic screen-design parameters, filer packs and selection of filter pack and slot size.
The second part of the class will include a problem that will be completed as part of the class where the students will get to design a filter pack and screen slot size for the Millerville well. Information will be given about the capacity of the well that is required, aquifer sieve data and general information required to design a filter pack and slot size. Students will plot the data and select a proper design for the screened interval.
