Understanding the needs, interests, and assets of families is critical to the work of a family engagement specialist. In this course, explore how a six step needs assessment can identify ways to increase family involvement and program sustainability within the context of GEAR UP programs.

This course covers:

  • Assessing the needs of GEAR UP families and community assets to create support;
  • Family involvement strategies to achieve GEAR UP goals; and
  • Community partnerships and program sustainability.

Take the full series
This is the second of three courses on planning and organizing for family engagement specialists. The courses build on each other, so we recommend taking all three courses, regardless of experience. The full series should take up to 6 hours to complete and you can take the courses at your own pace.

Certificate of Completion
To receive a certificate of completion, you must complete each lesson, all surveys, and pass the assessment with an 80% or higher for which you will have two retake opportunities.
