Commitment to Diversity for the Emerging-Level Family Engagement Specialist

Working with diverse populations is a core element of GEAR UP, and this course was created to build awareness around diversity issues. The issues addressed in this course are related to the diverse populations your work with, particularly as they relate to families. 

This course covers:

  • Unique cultural narratives;
  • Cultural competence;
  • Equity and equality; and
  • Postsecondary challenges.
This course is for you if you seek to enhance your knowledge and understanding of diverse populations.

Take the full series
This is the first of three courses on commitment to diversity for family engagement specialists. The courses build on each other, so we recommend taking all three courses, regardless of experience. The full series should take up to 6 hours to complete and you can take the courses at your own pace.

Certificate of Completion
To receive a certificate of completion, you must complete each lesson, all surveys, and pass the assessment with an 80% or higher for which you will have two retake opportunities.
