Course Description
Knowing how to complete an accurate financial statement for a client is pivotal to the successful resolution of an outstanding federal tax liability. The representative must know their client’s financial situation in order to make an educated decision on which path to take in resolving the federal tax liability.

Learning Objectives
  • Calculate collectible equity in assets for a taxpayer.
  • Calculate disposable net income for a taxpayer.
  • Understand how the equity and income calculations impact available collection alternatives.

Geoffrey Plourde, EA, JD, CPA
Geoff is an enrolled agent, attorney, and certified public accountant who specializes in resolving complex tax issues. He is an active member of the California Society of Enrolled Agents (currently state director and state education committee vice chair) and the National Association of Enrolled Agents. He was named a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute in 2015 after completing a rigorous program of advanced study in tax problem resolution. He has an MST from Golden Gate University, a JD from Southwestern Law School, and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
