Course Description
This course provides a broad overview of the IRS examination process, beginning with return selection through resolution of the examination. Participants will understand the options available for challenging an adverse examination result.

Learning Objectives
  • Learn the difference between different types of examination employees and the types of cases those employees handle.
  • Describe the lifecycle of an examination case from selection to completion.
  • Understand the role of Appeals and the U.S. Tax Court in resolving examination controversies.

Alan Pinck, Credentials
Alan Pinck is an enrolled agent with 30 years of tax preparation experience in the Silicon Valley. Alan has built a practice specializing in individual, small business tax preparation and audit representation. Alan, a nationally recognized presenter you have seen him at NTPI events, the moderator of Tax Talk Today, CSEA Super Seminar, Spidell Publishing as well as a variety of other presentations for tax groups and small business associations. Having represented thousands of tax returns in examination, Alan has obtained tremendous insight of the exam process as well as knowledge on a wide variety of tax issues. His real world approach and stories bring his sessions to life!
Continuing Education
This course qualifies for IRS and CTEC Continuing Education Hours. NAEA reports IRS CE on a monthly basis. For on-demand, you must watch the full video, answer the knowledge check, and pass the assessment with a score of 70% or above. No partial CE is offered.
