Description
Managing inpatient hyperglycemia shortens hospital stays, reduces the need for readmission and emergency department visits, and improves overall health outcomes. Achieving blood glucose targets is best achieved when standardized order sets and employ a basal/mealtime/corrective approach and begin with identification of hyperglycemia early in hospital stays. This webinar will guide the prescribing & non-prescribing CNS through the evidence that supports this approach and case studies which demonstrate its effectiveness.

Dr. Linda Thurby-Hay is an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. She is actively engaged in eliminating legislative & organizational practice barriers for the CNS in Virginia and currently serves as NACNS Secretary/Treasurer. She has designed & implemented an across-the-continuum diabetes program, employing a team of CNSs to implement state-of-the-science inpatient diabetes management and teams of RN/RD to educate patients in diabetes self-care within primary care settings.
