Description
Participate in NAADAC's National Peer Update and Listening Series, an insightful and dynamic virtual discussion in November and December. Explore NAADAC's origins and evolution as a pioneering peer-led organization. Hear from our National Peer Taskforce on their work to guide NAADAC, including their work to expand the peer support career ladder, offering a peek into upcoming developments and initiatives. Finally, discover the pivotal role of advocacy within NAADAC's peer initiatives as we spotlight our ongoing efforts to champion the rights and interests of peer support specialists.

Whether you're a seasoned professional, counselor, program administrator, or a newcomer to the peer support landscape, this series promises to be an invaluable forum for learning, collaboration, and growth.

Attendees will be encouraged to actively participate, posing questions, sharing feedback, and exploring a diverse range of topics, including advocacy, education, technical assistance, credentialing, and industry advancements. Together, we will chart a course for how NAADAC can continue to empower and support the peer support specialist workforce.

Learning Objectives
  • Participants will explore the origins and evolution of NAADAC as a pioneering peer-led organization, gaining insights into its historical development, key milestones, and shifts in focus over time. This objective aims to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of NAADAC's journey and its significance within the peer support landscape.
  • Attendees will hear firsthand from NAADAC's National Peer Taskforce members about their experiences and contributions to guiding NAADAC nationally. By delving into the work and perspectives of these task force members, participants will gain valuable insights into the challenges, successes, and future directions of peer-led initiatives within the organization.

Caitlin Hegwood, PhD, MAC, ACADC, CADC-II

Caitlin Hegwood, PhD, MAC, ACADC, CADC-II, has been an educator, recovery coach, and addiction counselor in the field of human services for over a decade. Caitlin’s passions include the promotion of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness through clinical and prevention services, experiences in nature, and movement. Through her work, she blends her expertise in education, behavioral health, and leadership to create social change locally and nationally.

Content Level
All Levels
Beginning level courses introduce learners to a content area; include information about a condition, treatment method, or issue; and involve learning and comprehending content.

Intermediate level courses provide information that builds on knowledge practitioners with some experience already have. These courses focus on skill-building or adding knowledge, possibly following a brief overview of basic information, and involve using information in concrete situations and understanding the underlying structure of the material.

Advanced level courses provide content for participants who have been working in the content area and have a clear understanding of the issues. These courses cover and address the complexities involved in the work and involve synthesizing material to create new patterns or structures or evaluating material for a specific purpose.

Earn 1.5 Continuing Education Hours (CE)
To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.

  1. Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $25 processing fee to access the quiz.
  2. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
  3. Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print. All certificates will be stored in the NAADAC Education Center under your profile name. Click here for instructions on how to access your CE certificates.
