Jump to Course Contents
Description
Often, individuals with co-occurring disorders will need to be treated with several different approaches. These approaches may include nutrition, mindfulness-based therapies, somatic and creative arts therapies, energy psychology approaches, and recovery models to affect real change. Neurotransmitters help maintain balance through proper nutrition with vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Mindfulness-based therapies, including DBT, ACT, and EFT, work from a body and mind approach to soothe the limbic brain. In addition, somatic creative arts therapies help to heal the brain as a whole. This webinar will explore health, wellness, and balance approaches within counseling protocols that improve outcomes for those with co-occurring disorders. Attendees will also discuss effective ways to decrease stress while also increasing self-care and helpful coping strategies.
Learning Objectives
  • Participants will be able to recognize the link between nutrition and mental health.
  • Participants will be able to describe three mindfulness, creative arts, and energy psychology therapies that demonstrate efficacy working with those with co-occurring disorders.
  • Participants will be able to apply skills to bring balance and wellness into a whole person approach to treating those with co-occurring disorders.
