Description
Gaming use disorder has become a widely discussed topic in recent years. It has left many clinicians scrambling for methods to treat this complex disorder. This presentation will describe the signs and symptoms of gaming use disorder. It will also highlight the developmental skills those suffering from gaming use disorder are missing and treatment methods to help them arrest this disorder by gaining these skills. Finally, this presentation will list and analyze the other disorders which often co-occur with gaming use disorder.

Jeremy Eberle, LIMHP, CDGC, LADC
Jeremy Eberle, LIMHP, CDGC, LADC, of Lincoln, NE, is a Licensed Therapist who has been providing services to individuals, groups, couples, and families since 2010. In 2017, Eberle was the lead researcher in a study focused on the prevalence of fantasy sports among Nebraska college students. These findings were presented at the National Gambling Conference in Portland, Oregon in July 2017, as well as at other conferences throughout the country. In July 2020, Eberle joined services with Janet Johnson, LIMHP, CDGC, LADC, LPC, successfully establishing Alternative Avenues in Lincoln, Nebraska. His current area of interest is the intersection between gambling use disorder and gaming use disorder, as these two disorders appear to share a great deal of similarity and comorbidity.

Janet L. Johnson, LIMHP, CDGC, LADC, LPC
Janet L. Johnson, LIMHP, CDGC, LADC, LPC, has been working as a counselor for the past 16 years. In 2005, Johnson obtained her Master’s degree in Counseling, as well as her Gambling Certification. She focuses on mental health, addictions, and gambling disorders. In October of 2019, Johnson won the Nebraska Counseling Association Counselor of the Year Award. In 2020, Johnson and her associate, Jeremy Eberle, LIMHP, CDGC, LADC, began their private practice, Alternative Avenues, located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Johnson’s clientele consists of individuals, families, youth, and adults, specializing in serving couples and family members affected by addictions.

Beginning level courses introduce learners to a content area; include information about a condition, treatment method, or issue; and involve learning and comprehending content.
Intermediate level courses provide information that builds on knowledge practitioners with some experience already have. These courses focus on skill-building or adding knowledge, possibly following a brief overview of basic information, and involve using information in concrete situations and understanding the underlying structure of the material.

- Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $20 processing fee to access the quiz.
- A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
- Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print.
