Description
During this webinar, the presenter will focus on important considerations for working as a peer in an online format. Participants will learn about the rules of HIPAA and how to comply, important safety considerations and measures one can take, and additional skills to work as peers in an online space.
Learning Objectives
  • Participants will be able to verbalize the importance of being up-to-date on the law surrounding telehealth.
  • Participants will be able to identify telehealth skills to best work with clients through text, email, chat, video, and apps.
  • Participants will be able to recognize the need for safety when working with peers online.

Presenters
Melissa Dittberner, PhD, CPS, PS

Melissa Dittberner, PhD, CPS, PS, is a lecturer in the Addictions Counseling and Prevention department at the University of South Dakota. She has a Doctoral degree in Counseling and Psychology in Education, a Master’s degree in Addiction Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. Dittberner is a prevention and peer specialist with a focus on research regarding substance use, pedagogy, addiction, trauma, body brokering, and harm reduction among the college population. She speaks publicly on adaptability, resiliency, sustainability, screening, prevention, harm reduction, motivation, peer support, Narcan administration, and her own lived experience.

Earn 1 Continuing Education Hour (CE)
To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.

  1. Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $15 processing fee to access the quiz.
  2. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
  3. Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print. All certificates will be stored in the NAADAC Education Center under your profile name. Click here for instructions on how to access your CE certificates.
