Reflective Integration Series for 2023 MI-AIMH Reflective Supervision Symposium participants

Reflective Integration Series for
2023 MI-AIMH Reflective Supervision
Symposium participants

Building on the momentum generated by the Reflective Practice and Supervision Symposium, the Professional Development Committee (PDC) is thrilled to extend a warm invitation for your participation in an upcoming reflective series. This unique opportunity will immerse you in affinity spaces specifically designed to delve into how Reflective Supervision is being integrated individually and in groups. These small groups will reflect on ways of knowing, being, and doing (mind/body/spirit). Together, we will have conversations surrounding race and identity and how these elements shape our approach to reflective practice. Conversation will be enriched by articles read between meetings and Reflective Supervision Prompt Cards that attendees received. Format will be a large group introduction and grounding at each meeting, and then we will break up into small affinity spaces - with the same attendees each month. These groups are being offered only to those individuals that attended the Symposium in July and are considered part of registration ~ meaning that are FREE!

2023 Dates, Times (Eastern Time Zone):
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm ~ all days
  • Oct. 5th
  • Nov. 16th
  • Dec. 7th
  • January 18th
  • February 1st
  • March 7th
**If you are outside of Michigan, please note these times are in the Eastern Time Zone.

MI-AIMH is looking for volunteer small group facilitators. Each group will have at least two volunteer facilitators (in case of illness etc.). If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to tmartinez@mi-aimh.org. Small group facilitators will not be “presenters” or “experts" but instead will help to hold space that is grounded in equity and inclusion. Additionally, volunteers will support curiosity of others' experiences and our own, ideally through the lens of mind body spirit. Group facilitators will help to hold space for deep connection and exploration around the uniqueness of each person’s experience – clients, supervisee, supervisor – and the intersectionality of how that all comes together. Facilitators will need to read the articles to engage in meaningful conversation and attend separate facilitator support/debriefing spaces on 9/21, 10/19, 11/2, 12/14, 1/25th, 2/15, 3/21 from 12-1pm. Volunteers are the reason MI-AIMH is able to offer this opportunity at no cost, so please thank your facilitators! Volunteer Facilitators will receive free MI-AIMH Membership credit or option of similar token of appreciation!

Registration Note:
During the first small group spaces in October, participants will be invited to share some of the social group identities they hold. During the RS Symposium keynote, Danie Rice offered an introduction to this topic and her own identities, all of which are still available in the handouts/slides and listed as follows: Black, Mother, Detroit, Daughter, Student, Researcher, Able Bodied, Immunocompromised, Spiritual, Middle-Class, Cisgendered, Heterosexual. We encourage you to also consider identities related to mind/body/spirit that may seem “out of the box” during this exercise as well- but represent your whole self such as Enneagram Number, Introvert vs. Extrovert etc.

Intended Audience: These groups are only available to those individuals that attended the Reflective Practice and Supervision Symposium in July 2023.

MI-AIMH would like to thank the Professional Development Committee for planning the 2023 Symposium and these follow-up groups. The thoughtful and intentional contributions of this group will enhance the attendee's experience this year. We appreciate all of you, your hard work and dedication!
