Training Description:

Our first annual capitol day is dedicated to enriching the conversation around the vital interplay of infant mental health and indigenous ways of being.   This training will offer insight into indigenous perinatal and child raising traditions as well as the acknowledgement of history as a way to understand context for trauma-informed care, repair, mental health, multigenerational trauma and resilience in Navajo culture. Participants will reflect on their own unique family origins and culture. Finally, the presenters will discuss the Diversity Informed Tenets for Work with Infants Young Children and Families and explore the use of Infant Mental Health Principles in all practice settings for Birth to Six professionals.

Attendees: This in-person event is for individuals in Michigan that work with infants, young children and their families.

You will enter from the North Side of the building through Heritage Hall. This entrance is off Ottawa Street and is ground level, stairs are going down to the doors.
*Note that you cannot bring in any weapons or firearms, even if you have a permit.

If you are unable to join us in Lansing, don't worry!  We are working to have the speakers record their presentations.  While we will be able to share them, the recordings will not carry any continuing education credits. However, you will still be able to watch these amazing speakers.  It will take a few weeks for MI-AIMH to post the video and make it available after the event.

SCECHs - This event offers State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) for those with educator certification in Michigan. To receive SCECHs, you will need to have provide your PIC and MiRegistry numbers when you created your MI-AIMH RELATE User Account. If you did not add those items you can go back to add those items or email tmartinez@mi-aimh.org to have those added. These MUST be added PRIOR to the start of this event. COVID-19 SAFETY INFORMATION:
With the widespread availability of COVID-19 vaccines, safety protocols continue to evolve as more and more people are vaccinated.  Persons attending this in-person event should follow current Center for Disease Control (“CDC”) guidance for large gatherings of both vaccinated and non-vaccinated persons. MI-AIMH cannot guarantee that individuals in attendance at this event will not become exposed or infected with COVID-19.

Individuals who fall within any of the categories below should not engage in any conference events on site. By attending this training on site, you certify that you do not fall into any of the following categories and have complied with the following CDC guidance:
  1. Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 (regardless of vaccination status) within the last 10 days. Any persons who have tested positive for COVID-19 should not attend the conference until symptoms are not being experienced and the individual has obtained a follow-up negative test for COVID-19;
  2. Individuals who currently or within the past 10 days have experienced new symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath among others;
  3. Or non-vaccinated individuals who believe that they may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 within the past 10 days.
DUTY TO SELF-MONITOR: Training participants agree to self-monitor during the event for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath) and immediately contact MI-AIMH staff if he/she test positive for COVID-19 or experiences symptoms of COVID-19 within 14 days after participating on-site at this event.  If you have any COVID related symptoms, please do not attend the training.
