Course Description
Have you been appointed as a Title IX Advisor at your Institution? Are you looking to better understand the complexities of the process and improve your skills as an advisor? T9 Mastered’s Title IX Advisor Training prepares individuals to support and advise parties involved in Title IX proceedings. The training will cover:

  1. Brief overview of Title IX law and regulations
  2. Roles and responsibilities of advisors during the hearing
  3. Supporting complainants and respondents
  4. Conducting questioning during the hearing, including understanding relevance and a trauma-informed approach
  5. Understanding evidence and the investigative processes
Navigate the complexities with confidence and effectively guide your advisees through the Title IX process.

Presenters

Christina Petricca is an Attorney Investigator and Adjudicator with Van Dermyden Makus Law Corporation. Christina’s practice focuses on investigations involving misconduct, harassment, discrimination and retaliation. Christina has handled complex investigations in both the private and public sectors. Christina also has experience serving as a Hearing Officer in Title IX cases. Before joining Van Dermyden Makus Law Corporation, Christina worked for five years as a Title IX Coordinator for a university in the Bay Area. Christina has experience overseeing Title IX sexual misconduct investigations and hearings and is well-versed in Title IX requirements.

Lexi Zuidema is an Attorney Investigator and Adjudicator with Van Dermyden Makus Law Corporation. Her practice focuses on discrimination and harassment complaints in both private and public-sector employment contexts and Title IX campus investigations and hearings. Trained in Trauma Informed Forensic Interviewing, Lexi is an experienced investigator in Title IX sexual misconduct and harassment claims. Lexi has experience in investigating University faculty and administrators, underage complainants, multiple respondents, and complex issues involving incapacitation and consent. Prior to joining Van Dermyden Makus, Lexi completed an externship with Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye at the California Supreme Court. While completing her undergraduate degree, she worked for her school’s legal counsel researching requirements and applications of Title VII and Title IX. She also worked as an intern for the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, aiding in the investigation of numerous sexual violence cases. Lexi graduated from UC Davis School of Law in 2019 with business law and tax law certificates. She received her Bachelors of Arts from Westmont College in 2016 with a double major in Political Science and Economics & Business.
