Now that the MUTCD 11th Edition has been published, what’s next? One step is this MUTCD Summer Series of webinars created by members of ITE’s technical councils and committees to share their perspectives on key changes and new items in the 11th Edition. Although not intended to be a comprehensive review of the entire content of the new Manual, these webinars will provide transportation professionals information on the revisions and their application(s).

Webinar Description:
Join us for this webinar as it delves into the new 11th Edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). This session will provide an in-depth look at changes to Part 4: Highway Traffic Signals. As the first major revision to the MUTCD in over a decade, this section of the Manual focuses on different design and operational features associated with traffic signals and beacons.

Participants will get a brief overview of modifications to the traffic signal warrants, the new section on bicycle signals, the new section on Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), changes to the Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon sections, and much more.

Learning Objectives:
  • Explain updates from Part 4 of the Manual.
  • Provide comprehensive understanding of new sections.
  • Highlight some of the minor modifications in Part 4.

Policies:
Registration for the live webinar will close 30 minutes prior to the start.

The webinar recording will be made available on-demand until 60 days after the final webinar of the series is complete. Participants are able to purchase and retrieve their PDH credit certificate until their access to the content expires of 30 days. After the content expires, the PDH credit certificate opportunity is forfeited.

    Mr. Allen leads a talented team of transportation professionals with diverse technical expertise in all aspects of highway design, traffic engineering, complete streets, traffic operations, roadside safety, and ITS services. Spanning across nine states, his team’s mission is to deliver cutting-edge solutions to provide safer and more efficient transportation systems for the communities they serve. His personal specialty lies in traffic signal design, traffic operations, and traffic control design; having provided these services on successful projects at some of the most heavily traveled and iconic transportation facilities.

  • Anthony Mariani, P.E., PTOE, Senior Project Manager | Traffic Engineering | Colliers Engineering & Design | Hamilton, NJ, USA

    Mr. Mariani has a diverse background in roadway and traffic engineering with experience on projects for both private clients and public agencies. Starting with the firm as an intern, he has spent his entire career here helping to build and diversify our transportation expertise. He currently leads a team dedicated to delivering top quality transportation projects on time and within budget. His personal expertise is in traffic engineering and operations with a vast knowledge in traffic signal design, intersection capacity analysis, traffic signal electrical plans, traffic signal timings, curb ramp design, ITS design, highway lighting design, signing improvements, pavement markings, guiderail design, roadside safety and sustainable transportation design. In addition, Mr. Mariani was a member of 2021 LeadershipITE class.

  • Anamaria Torres, P.E., PTOE, Senior Transportation Engineer | Stantec | Austin, Texas, USA

    Anamaria is a professional engineer with technical experience in private and public sector transportation design and traffic engineering projects in both Illinois and Texas. Anamaria's capabilities and leadership were recognized by the Texas District of ITE by awarding her with the Younger Member of the Year award in 2021. She is a Past President of the Capital Area Section of ITE, serves as the LeadershipITE Steering Committee First Vice Chair, and was recognized by ITE as a Young Leader to Follow in 2022.
