Webinar Description:

Whether you've recently just been awarded a SS4A (Safe Streets and Roads for All) planning grant, interested in applying for an SS4A planning grant, or simply curious about what a SS4A plan is, this webinar is for you.

Join Lucas County (Ohio) Engineer Mike Pniewski and Toole Design Principal Planner Catherine Girves as we walk through all the basics: a conversation about setting up the project, a detailed walk through the eight components of the Safe Streets and Roads for All Action Plan, and even some thoughts about how to write a plan that positions communities for competitive grants for implementation funding.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the process following the award of an SS4A grant.
  • Recognize which SS4A grant your community is eligible for.
  • Describe and understand the kinds of projects SS4A grants can fund.

Policies: Registration closes 30 minutes prior to start.
The webinar recording will be made available on-demand it will have a shelf life of 60 days to register before it is archived. Participants are able to purchase and retrieve their PDH credit certificate until their access to the content expires. After the content expires and goes into archive, the PDH credit certificate opportunity is forfeited.

  • Catherine Girves, Principal Planner | Toole Design Group | Columbus, Ohio, USA

    Catherine is a Principal Planner in Toole Design’s Columbus office. With two decades of experience in active transportation, she enjoys helping community leaders understand how accommodating our most vulnerable travelers also forwards the important health, safety, and economic goals that all communities have. She has designed and operated multiple award-winning programs to encourage mode shift and has personally taught hundreds of people to lawfully and joyfully get from one place to another by bike. Catherine has a long, rich, and diverse history of participating in the development and implementation of policies to create beloved community.

  • Mike Pniewski, P.E., Engineer | Lucas County Engineer's Office | Toledo, Ohio, USA

    Mike began with the Lucas County Engineer’s Office on August 21, 2017, as Chief Deputy Lucas County Engineer. He has worked as an engineer for over 10 years in the private sector, been an adjunct professor in civil engineering and land surveying for over five years at various universities including the University of Toledo and most recently worked seven years for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District at their Toledo Project Office. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in six states including Ohio, and a licensed Professional Surveyor in Ohio and California. Mike is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a LEED accredited professional and a Certified Federal Surveyor.
