Technology continues to change the way we work and is ever evolving. Leveraging technology can improve overall business processes and practices, technical deliverables and communication along with many other benefits. This webinar will share the advantages of increasing use of technology, discuss consideration of scaling of technology for different size firms, as well as provide examples of technologies current consultant firms are using to enhance the way they work.

Learning Objectives:
  • Recognize the benefits of using technology in your work.
  • Understand the considerations of firm size when incorporating or scaling technology.
  • Learn about technology tools consultants are using to enhance workflow.

    Christine is a Senior Transportation Engineer at VHB with 15 years of experience. She is very involved in ITE and passionate about young member engagement in the industry. She received her BS in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech. On the personal side, Christine has three young boys and loves to travel.

  • Carlos A. Ortiz, P.E., PTOE, Chief Executive Officer | ADVANTEC Consulting Engineers, Inc. | Irvine, CA, USA

    Mr. Ortiz is the Chief Executive Officer and Principal at ADVANTEC Consulting Engineers, an Irvine based planning, design, operations, and technology firm with offices in California. Mr. Ortiz has extensive experience managing Smart Cities and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects for numerous agencies throughout the west. He has over 30 years of experience, exclusively in the field of ITS, smart mobility, connected/automated vehicles (CAV), smart cities, system engineering, broadband communications, and traffic engineering. Through his current projects, Mr. Ortiz is assisting agencies to understand the Smart Cities and CAV markets, so they can make better decisions on current and future ITS and Smart Cities deployments. Mr. Ortiz served on the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) International Board of Direction. Mr. Ortiz serves on ITE’s Transportation Consultants Council. Mr. Ortiz also serves on the ITS California Board of Direction; and he serves on the Cal Poly Pomona, Civil Engineering Department, Industry Advisory Council. Mr. Ortiz graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Mr. Ortiz is currently managing the Smart Region Program in Coachella Valley, California. This is one of largest Smart Region and Mobility in the nation.

  • Gene Chartier, P.Eng, Vice President and Chief Development Officer | Paradigm Transportation Solutions Limited | Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

    Gene is a professional engineer with over 30 years of municipal government and private consulting experience. His career spans the sphere of transportation engineering practice ranging from traffic operations to multi-modal planning for communities large and small. Gene is a Past President and International Director for ITE Canada, recipient of ITE Canada’s H. Robert Burton Distinguished Service Award, and current chair of ITE’s Consultants Council.

  • Eric Ostimchuk, P.E., PTOE, Vice President-Transportation Planning | Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. | Pottstown, PA, USA

    As TPD’s Vice President managing the Transportation Planning Department, Eric is primarily responsible for the preparation, review, and revision of transportation and parking planning studies and roadway and traffic signal design documents. Mr. Ostimchuk has had the primary oversight of hundreds of planning and design projects from inception to construction on a variety of project types for both private and public clients. Eric has a BS in Civil Engineering from Widener University, is a licensed PE in 5 states and is a registered PTOE.

  • Todd Lanphear, IT Manager | Traffic Planning and Design, Inc | Pottstown, PA, USA

    Todd Lanphear has been a pivotal figure at TPD for over 30 years, starting as a CADD designer before ascending to the role of IT Manager in 2011. In his current position, he leads a dedicated team of eight, focusing on providing exceptional IT, CADD support, and facilities management services. Todd takes pride in treating the engineering staff as clients, ensuring they can work efficiently through standardized systems and improved workflows. His team’s client-centric approach has consistently earned outstanding reviews in company surveys, contributing to TPD’s recognition as a best place to work. Todd’s journey from CADD Management to IT leadership exemplifies his commitment to leveraging technology to enhance company operations and client service.

  • Mike Steffy, Application Manager | American Structurepoint | Indianapolis, IN, USA

    Mike Steffy brings over three decades of experience to the AEC industry. Initially starting his career as a design technician, Mike has evolved his expertise to play a pivotal role in IT, specializing in supporting, training, and developing design software. His extensive background and deep understanding of the technical challenges in AEC have made him an invaluable asset and in recent years, Mike has been the forward-facing person for development and implementation of a virtual remote work platform. His leadership in this area has not only increased productivity but also positioned American Structurepoint as a leader in adopting remote work technologies in the AEC industry.
