DSI Course: Live Session Three

Description

This is the third live session for this program. The live session will answer any questions you submitted through the course portal and any questions you have live on these modules. The instructors will also discuss utilities.

Once this live session concludes, you will be provided access to Modules 10-13 to begin the training.

Important Notes:

  • We will be using Zoom. It is important to check your system requirements (see button to the right) prior to Tuesday to ensure you do not have difficulty joining the session.
  • This session will begin with instruction by ITE staff and lead instructors. Therefore we ask that when you join, remain muted and camera toggled off.
  • There will then be an opportunity for live interactive session and the instructors may call on you in which you can unmute and turn on your camera.

    Steven Jewell, P.E., PTOE is a retired traffic engineering subject matter expert. Over the course of his career he served as Traffic and Planning Manager for DLZ Ohio for more than 16 years, and spent 30 years with the City of Columbus, Ohio Traffic Engineering and Parking Division. He holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering (transportation) and an M.A. degree in Public Administration, both from Ohio State University. He is a Life member of ITE. Steve also currently serves as chair of the ITE delegation to the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control devices.

  • Douglas E. Noble, P.E., PTOE, Senior Director of Management and Operations | ITE

    Doug has more than 30 years of progressive experience in the transportation engineering field and personal expertise with the challenges and risks associated with resource availability, asset management and workforce development in constrained organizational environments. He has specific expertise in traffic engineering, traffic signal program management, transportation operations, street/rail design, grade crossing safety and operational analysis, planned special events, and neighborhood traffic management. He is the staff liaison to the ITE Traffic Engineering Council and its subcommittees and was the technical editor for the Guidelines for Determining Traffic Signal Change and Clearance Intervals, Traffic Signal Preemption Near Railroad Crossings, and Speed Reduction Techniques recommended practices as well as the most recent edition of the Traffic Signal Maintenance Handbook. He currently provides staff support to the National Operations Center of Excellence and the National Rural ITS Steering Committee.

  • Cynthia Peck, P.E., PTOE

    Cynthia Peck, P.E., PTOE is the Regional Services Director at American Structure Point. She began her career with the Missouri Department of Transportation where she spent her first three and a half years after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis. Cynthia began her career as a roadway engineer and began to specialize in Traffic engineering at DLZ. She worked at CVE Limited, where she has worked since January 1999. While involved with many aspects of traffic engineering, her focus has been on the design of traffic signal installations and the preparation of traffic studies. She has provided presentations at the Ohio Technical Engineering Conference and numerous ITE meetings, including the International meeting in Minneapolis.
