Session Description
The use of e-oral health technologies can strengthen provision of health through improved access, monitoring, sharing and use of quality data. The use of applications (Apps) has expanded with the ubiquitous presence of the internet and mobile technology; e-oral health offers cost-effective interventions; improved outcomes, in terms of a reduction in cost and an increase in quality of care.

The use of Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning is transforming e-oral health and dentistry. AI for e-oral health can be used by professionals in clinical settings, by patients in apps, for self-management of conditions and further expand the scope of e-oral health.
This symposium is dedicated to the advancement of AI in e-Oral health and increase awareness on the various aspects surrounding the use and uptake of artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning among others, applied to oral healthcare.

The main objective of this event is to bring together researchers and practitioners working in e-Oral health and AI to share their experience and knowledge. This will include the application of artificial Intelligence in various areas such as tele-dentistry and disease screening, the creation of international consortiums for the development of Oral Health AI, and the regulations and ethical challenges of these technologies. One example that will be discussed is the development of AI for early diagnosis of oral cancer. Such technologies could help improve the management of oral cancer in the general population, especially in developing countries and in populations with limited access to specialized medical care.

The speakers and participants will discuss recent trends in these fields and find the best ways to implement them to improve the quality of health services.

Learning Objectives
  • At the end of this symposium, the attendees: Will identify the regulatory requirements for development of artificial technologies in Oral Health
  • At the end of this symposium, the attendees: Will be able to define the applications of artificial intelligence in Oral health
  • At the end of this symposium, the attendees: Will increased awareness of the ethical issues that AI technologies bring about in oral health.
