  • Laura Seeff MD

    has been with CDC since 1998 and has worked in CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, in the CDC Director’s Office and now in CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health & ATSDR Office where she serves as Senior Medical Advisor. She is helping advance CDC’s environmental health priorities with a focus on heat and health, including the spring 2024 release of CDC’s Heat and Health Initiative, and is a Co-Chair of CDC’s Climate and Health Task Force. She joined CDC as an EIS Officer with CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control and during her tenure there, she held several leadership positions and helped design and launch CDC’s National Colorectal Cancer Control Program. She has served in several CDC roles focused on strengthening public health and health care collaboration as Deputy Medical Director for CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and as Director of CDC’s Office of Heath Systems Collaboration, where she led CDC’s 6|18 Initiative which focused on delivering cost saving preventive services in partnership with health care systems and health insurers. Most recently, she served as CDC’s Senior Advisor to the CDC Foundation. Prior to joining CDC, Dr. Seeff was a practicing internist and resident preceptor at the Emory University School of Medicine/Grady Memorial Hospital and helped establish a colorectal cancer screening program for Grady Memorial Hospital. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine residency training at the Emory University School of Medicine. She recently completed the Yale School of Public Health’s Climate Change and Health Certificate Program and the Yale Business School’s Certificate Program on Corporate Sustainability.

  • Ambarish Vaidyanathan, PhD, MSEnvE 

    is a senior health scientist with the Climate and Health Program at National Center for Environmental Health, CDC. Rish has been with CDC for over 19 years and his training and work experience cover a wide range of substantive areas, including epidemiology, exposure assessment, environmental engineering, and data science. Dr. Vaidyanathan has several years of experience planning, coordinating, and implementing strategies to facilitate the conduct of environmental health surveillance and translational research projects. Specifically, he has been able to establish mutually beneficial collaborations with academic institutions,federal agencies, and various public health partners, for identifying and characterizing populations vulnerable to climate-sensitive exposures. In addition, he has led interagency efforts within the United States Federal government to create decision support tools, using epidemiological information, for strengthening public health practice.
