A Practicum Student for the Alliance for Disease Prevention
and Response at APHA, and currently serves as a Public Health Administrator for
the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. In addition, she
has previously worked as a Healthcare Consultant for the Veteran Health
Administration, leading the implementation of evidence-based quality
improvement initiatives to enhance comprehensive care for Women Veterans. Iesha
holds a BS in Sociology from Bowie State University and is currently pursuing
an MPH degree at Baylor University.
MPH candidate with a concentration in Sociomedical Sciences
with a certificate in Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Columbia University,
Mailman School of Public Health. She is committed and passionate about
eliminating health inequities amongst underrepresented populations. Her
research interest in public health is centered around using data science for
topics surrounding infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, community health and
social epidemiology. Kamiah has a multitude of professional experience engaging
in quantitative research, developing, implementing, and evaluating public
health programs, community outreach, engagement strategy, and developing needs
assessment. She has been able to apply her public health understanding and
skills in a variety of settings, such as healthcare systems, nonprofits, within
communities, and governmental organizations. She received her Bachelors of
Science from The George Washington University in Public Health with a double
minor in Africana Studies and Sociology.
Became a member of Public Health AmeriCorps in December of
2022 at Boat People S.O.S Center for Community Advancement in the Little Saigon
District of Orange County. His work has been primarily to implement educational
interventions in Vietnamese communities to bolster the health literacy of
Vietnamese seniors. He is most proud of creating culturally competent workshops
that educate members of his community in regards to various public health
topics such as nutrition and vaccinations. Following his year in AmeriCorps, he
will pursue a 2nd term of PHA before entering into nursing school in Fall 2024
with plans of being a public health nurse.
A Senior Associate at Reservoir Communications Group, a
DC-based communications firm focused on supporting brand, reputation, and
advocacy. In her role, she contributes to public affairs efforts that advance
equity and policy objectives for clients in the health sector. Sana received
her BS in Public Health at George Washington University’s Milken Institute
School of Public Health, where she is currently pursuing her MPH with a health
policy and management concentration. From presenting on mental health
disparities at Milken’s Annual Research Showcase to carceral systems at APHA’s
2023 Annual Meeting, Sana has consistently demonstrated her passion for public
health advocacy through active engagement in events and platforms promoting
evidence-based solutions and equitable healthcare access.
Serves as the Association Manager for the Indiana Public
Health Association, with much of her work focusing on public health
infrastructure, workforce development, and capacity building efforts. In May
2022, Sara received her Master of Public Health degree from the Indiana
University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, with a dual
concentration in Social & Behavioral Sciences and Health Policy &
Management. In May 2019, Sara received her Bachelor of Arts degree in
Psychology from Indiana University Bloomington. In her free time, Sara enjoys
hiking/backpacking, attending concerts, reading, and cuddling with her cat,
Indy.
