Kim Nguyen is a seasoned strategist,
organizer, and advocate with a background in public health and bioengineering.
Due to Kim’s interdisciplinary background, Kim has made an impact in a variety
of roles and industries including biotech/engineering, research, non-profit,
government, and philanthropy. Kim has a proven record of success partnering
with clients to develop and run successful campaigns. In order to be an
effective consultant, Kim is an expert on state legislatures, agencies,
political landscapes as well as a number of federal and state policies. They
identify legislative risks and opportunities, develop proactive and reactive
campaigns, and form and maintain strategic alliances. Kim’s portfolio of states
is ever growing and includes CA, CT, FL, IN, LA, MA, MI, MT, NH, NM, TN, UT,
VA, WA, WI, and WV. Beyond this, Kim has extensive campaign experience
(community, ballot, electoral) and,
thus, is someone who is well-versed in crystallizing the impact of public
policy as well as building and navigating lasting relationships that inspire
action with stakeholders. Prior to these roles, Kim focused much of their work
in the research and public health sphere at institutions including the San
Francisco Department of Public Health, Harvard University, and Stanford
University. These roles provide Kim with unique insight into the intersection
of public health, biotech, and government affairs.
Korey T. Johnson, Esq. serves as a policy
strategist and organizer for country-wide legislative campaigns that seek to
eliminate economic barriers for individuals with criminal records. As an owner
of her own consultant company, Korey's focus is on empowering advocates and
developing technical support to sustain multi-state campaigns.In her current
capacity with APHA and our affiliated state public health associations, Korey
serves as an equity consultant. Prior to
joining the CSG, as a Senior Policy Analyst at the CSG Justice Center, Korey
led a multi-state occupational licensure campaign that led to the passage of
fair chance licensing policies in over 20 states for reentering citizens.
Further, as a Senior Policy Research Analyst at the Job Opportunities Task
Force, Korey’s advocacy resulted in the passage of legislation that increased
educational opportunities for incarcerated individuals in the State of
Maryland. She also served as an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Department of
Justice and a legislative aid in the State of Maryland General Assembly. She
received her BS in political science from Towson University, JD from Howard
University, and is currently a doctoral student at Morgan State University.
