About
I am an Assistant
Professor with the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (SCWDS) and
Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. I completed a Ph.D. in
Wildlife Ecology and Management from the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural
Resources with a focus on parasitology. I continue to work with The Carter
Center and the Guinea Worm Eradication Program in Chad, Africa, but focus
mostly on developing collaborative research projects with the SCWDS member
states to investigate pathogens of consequence in wildlife populations.
Teaching undergraduate and graduate students is a primary objective, and I
develop and deliver courses that based in experiential learning practices.
I have a strong background in parasitological techniques, as well as mammal
trapping, handling and chemical immobilization, mist netting, nest searching,
entomology, and necropsy. Additionally, I utilize PCR, SN, ELISA, HI, and
various other molecular diagnostic techniques for surveillance,
experimentation, and management of wildlife diseases.
