Dr. Dan Suiter, BCE
Dr. Dan Suiter, BCE
Dan Suiter is a Professor of Urban Pest
Management in the Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia. His job
duties include the development of extension, research, and education programs
on the management of structural and household pests in support of the pest control
industry, homeowners, and the Georgia Cooperative Extension service. He
coordinates the training activities of the Georgia Structural Pest Control
Training Center. Dr. Suiter has worked with the pest control industry since
1987. He received his education B.S. degree in 1987, M.S. degree in 1989, and
Ph.D. in 1994 from the University of Florida, where he worked with Drs. Phil
Koehler, Richard Patterson, and Richard Brenner.
From 1995 to 2000 Dr. Suiter worked with
Drs. Gary Bennett and Robert Corrigan in the Center for Urban & Industrial
Pest Management at Purdue University. He’s been at the University of Georgia
since 2000. He was the 2018 recipient of the D.W. Brooks Award for Excellence
in Extension at the University of Georgia, the 2010 recipient of the
Recognition award in Urban Entomology from the Southeastern Branch of the
Entomological Society of America, PCT magazines “Top 40 under 40” award, and in
2007 was inducted into Syngenta’s Crown Leadership Awards Class. Dr. Suiter is
active in leadership roles in several professional organizations.
