Gestalt Play Therapy-
Gestalt therapy was developed by Fredrick and
Laura Perls. Violet Oaklander (2003) noted that Gestalt therapy is a
process-oriented and humanistic modality that involves the healthy and integrated functioning of the individual, including the senses, body, emotions, and intellect. This workshop will focus on the Gestalt foundational concepts in the application of play therapy.
Objectives:
- Participants will discuss 2 foundational concepts in Gestalt Play Therapy.
- Participants will analyze 3 play therapy interventions in Gestalt Play Therapy.
- Participants will describe the role of the clinician in Gestalt Play Therapy,
- Participants will critique 2 Gestalt Play Therapy concepts in relation to other play therapy theoretical orientations.
- Participants will discuss utilizing Gestalt Play Therapy within their own practice.
- Participants will design 2 Gestalt Play Therapy interventions.

Sharolyn Wallace PhD, LCSW, RPT-S, IMH-E®
Sharolyn Wallace PhD, LCSW, RPT-S, IMH-E® has worked with children and families for over 30 years. She has served on the APT Board of Directors and OKAPT and currently serves on the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). Dr. Wallace has authored six children’s books and APT magazine articles. She is the Professor of Human Services at Tulsa Community College and Faculty Director for the Center for Addiction Prevention and Recovery Support.
