Swan and Schottelkorb (2013) noted that children as young as 3 have
dreams that they can recall and address in clinical work. Several dream
theories and applications will be explored in context to dream work with
children utilizing the foundations of play therapy applications and the
therapeutic powers of play. This workshop will focus on the Dreamwork
and Play Therapy foundational concepts in the process of application of
play therapy.
Objectives:
- Participants will discuss 2 foundational concepts in Dreamwork and Play Therapy.
- Participants will analyze 3 play therapy interventions in Dreamwork and Play Therapy.
- Participants will describe the role of the clinician, client, and caregivers in Dreamwork and Play Therapy,
- Participants will critique 2 Dreamwork and Play Therapy concepts in relation to other play therapy theoretical orientations.
- Participants will discuss utilizing Psychoanalytic and Jungian Dreamwork and Play Therapy within their own practice.
- Participants will design 2 Dreamwork and Play Therapy interventions.
