CS Institute Play Therapy Cohort- CREOKS Cohort 11- Sensory Integration and Play Therapy

Sensory Integration and play therapy explore the intersection between primitive reflexes.Kokeb Girma McDonald (2019) notes, “Sensory integration is the mind and body’s ability to perceive internal and external information through the senses, learn, respond, and adapt accordingly.” This workshop will focus on the foundational concepts of primitive reflexes and the application of play therapy foundations and interventions can promote overall well-being.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will discuss 2 foundational concepts of primitive reflexes.
  2. Participants will analyze 3 play therapy interventions in connection to primitive reflexes.
  3. Participants will describe the role of the clinician, client, and caregivers in sensory integration and Play Therapy,
  4. Participants will critique 2 Play Therapy concepts in relation to other play therapy theoretical orientations as it relates to sensory integration.
  5. Participants will discuss utilizing sensory integration and Play Therapy within their own practice.
  6. Participants will design 2 Play Therapy interventions grounded in theory and address sensory integration.
CS Institute is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy. APT Approved Provider number is 15-419. CS Institute maintains responsibility for the program.
