CS Institute - A New Way Cohort - Grief and Play Therapy

Play therapy can be an effective way to help children cope with loss. It provides a safe and supportive environment for children to express their emotions, process their grief, and develop healthy coping skills. This course will explore grief and loss through a developmental lens that will incorporate sensory integration for emotional regulation, art therapy techniques, and bibliotherapy activities.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will discuss 2 foundational concepts in addressing grief and loss in Play Therapy.
  2. Participants will analyze 3 play therapy interventions to address grief and loss.
  3. Participants will describe the role of the clinician, client, and caregivers in Play Therapy when addressing grief and loss,
  4. Participants will critique 2 Play Therapy concepts in relation to grief and loss.
  5. Participants will discuss utilizing grief and loss Play Therapy techniques within their own practice.
  6. Participants will design 2 grief and loss Play Therapy interventions.
CS Institute is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy. APT Approved Provider number is 15-419. CS Institute maintains responsibility for the program.
