Play therapy can be an effective way to help children cope with loss.
It provides a safe and supportive environment for children to express
their emotions, process their grief, and develop healthy coping skills.
This course will explore grief and loss through a developmental lens
that will incorporate sensory integration for emotional regulation, art
therapy techniques, and bibliotherapy activities.
Objectives:
- Participants will discuss 2 foundational concepts in addressing grief and loss in Play Therapy.
- Participants will analyze 3 play therapy interventions to address grief and loss.
- Participants will describe the role of the clinician, client, and caregivers in Play Therapy when addressing grief and loss,
- Participants will critique 2 Play Therapy concepts in relation to grief and loss.
- Participants will discuss utilizing grief and loss Play Therapy techniques within their own practice.
- Participants will design 2 grief and loss Play Therapy interventions.
