Description

In this workshop, explore realms of culture and how to appropriately and reflectively represent diversity in your playroom through books, toys, and games.

Objectives:

  • Learn 3 APT Expectations for being a culturally and socially diverse play therapist
  • Define “Culture” and Cultural Humility
  • Address Diversity in the Playroom
  • Learn 3 Multicultural Errors Made in Play Therapy
  • Discuss and share resources to demonstrate diversity in the playroom
  • Review barriers to creating a diverse playroom
CS Institute is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy. APT Approved Provider number is 15-419. CS Institute maintains responsibility for the program.

  • Brandy Guidry, MA, LPC-S, RPT™

    Brandy graduated in 2015 from Southern Nazarene University with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. She works for Transitions, Inc. and provides therapy to children and adults individually and as a family with an emphasis on treating trauma and through a primarily Adlerian lens. She is a Registered Play Therapist with a passion for play therapy, establishing healthy and positive attachment in parent-child relationships, and promoting cultural diversity and inclusion in the mental health field. She is a Certified facilitator for Circle of Security, an attachment based parenting program, rostered in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and also a certified parent coach for Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC).
