Description
With the ever-evolving changes in paint standards, code requirements, company acquisitions, VOC requirements and paint terminology, it’s no wonder that many Architects are struggling to understand paint and how to specify it properly.
In this course, we will explore current terminology, code requirements, challenges with using the MPI standard system, and strategies for assuring that we are getting what we wanted.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:- Attendees will understand the meaning of current terminology used by paint manufacturers, including terms like "latex" and "enamel," and "epoxy" verses "water-based epoxy"
- Understand the current code requirements with respect to LEED, sustainability, and local requirements
- Learn how and when to use MPI standards to assure equivalency with paint products and assure that they meet VOC and sustainability requirements
- Attendees will understand strategies for specifying paint, that reduce substitution requests, minimize potential for failure to meet code and sustainability requirements, and help achieve thorough and accurate paint installation
