In order to provide informed consent for any procedure or drug at any stage of pregnancy, it is critically important for the patient that accurate language be used, to avoid confusion. Medical professionals can improve their ability to provide informed consent in situations which are necessarily emotionally laden such as those affecting reproductive health. Terminology used by both ACOG and AAPLOG will be presented.
