Cross cultural healthcare missions have been described as a moral injury factory. The challenges that healthcare workers face in this context leads to burnout, poor performance, and a variety of other poor outcomes. This activity provides knowledge about the existence and identification of moral injury, provides tools to prevent it, and equips participants to identify and process moral injury when it occurs.

  • Define moral injury.
  • Describe steps that can be taken to prevent moral injury.
  • Discuss how moral injury can be treated.
  • Identify resources to assist those who have experienced moral injury and need further assistance.
  • List tools to help prevent moral injury.
  • Identify resources to prevent and/or treat personal moral injuries.

Accreditation: Christian Medical & Dental Associations is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
