Are you an actuary who has considered working outside the United States or for a client outside the United States? If so, you need to be knowledgeable about your professionalism requirements.

This webinar will review the Code of Professional Conduct and provide an overview of the International Actuarial Association (IAA) and its professional standards. We will also discuss the professional standards of a few different countries such as the UK and Singapore and provide an example of an actuary doing international work.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about how the International Actuarial Association (IAA) applies to Casualty Actuaries.
  • Understand what Professionalism requirements apply when doing international work.
  • Apply the Code of Conduct when doing international work.

CAS Continuing Education Policy
The CAS Continuing Education Policy applies to all ACAS and FCAS members who provide Actuarial Services. Actuarial Services are defined in the CAS Code of Professional Conduct as “professional services provided to a Principal by an individual acting in the capacity of an actuary. Such services include the rendering of advice, recommendations, findings or opinions based upon actuarial considerations.” Members who are or could be subject to the continuing education requirements of a national actuarial organization can meet the requirements of the CAS Continuing Education Policy by satisfying the continuing education requirements established by a national actuarial organization recognized by the Policy. For further information regarding the CAS Continuing Education Policy please visit the CAS web site.

CAS Webinars may qualify for up to 1.8* CE Credits for CAS members.
Participants should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. CAS members earn 1 CE Credit per 50 minutes of educational session time, not to include breaks and/or lunch. *The amount of CE credit that can be earned for participating in this activity must be assessed by the individual attendee. It also may be different for individuals who are subject to the requirements of organizations other than the Casualty Actuarial Society.

  • Rebecca Williams

    Rebecca Williams has been the Actuary for the NC Rate Bureau (NCRB) since 2008. Rebecca manages the preparation and analysis of filing data for both Personal Lines and Workers Compensation for the NC Rate Bureau. She ensures the quality, reasonableness, and actuarial soundness of NCRB filings before submission to the Department of Insurance. Prior to joining the NC Rate Bureau, Rebecca worked at Texas Mutual as an Assistant Actuary and at the Texas Department of Insurance as an examining actuary. Rebecca is also an active volunteer with the Casualty Actuarial Society.

  • Ronald Kozlowski

    Ron Kozlowski is a property & casualty consulting actuary with over 35 years of experience, working primarily in pricing, reserving and M&A due diligence for insurance companies, self-insured entities and governmental entities. Ron spent 23 years at Towers Watson before starting his own consulting firm RTK Actuarial & Professional Services. Ron currently serves as the CAS Asia Ambassador, a member of the CAS International Leadership Group, and as a frequent speaker at the CAS’s Course on Professionalism. Ron is also involved with numerous committees in planning continuing education content for conferences both domestically and internationally. Ron graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science.

  • Beth Fitzgerald

    Beth Fitzgerald is an FCAS, MAAA and CPCU and currently serves on the CAS Professional Education Committee, the Leadership Development Committee and as a University Liaison. She has previously volunteered in many other CAS roles and is a prior chairperson of the Actuarial Standards Board. Before retiring, Beth served as president of ISO Solutions (a Verisk business) where she oversaw the development of ISO’s core products including advisory prospective loss costs and policy forms for commercial and personal lines of business.
