The second in a three-part webinar series investigating the pay gap for women, this webinar will explore the hurdles that Black women face in the workforce, examine policies and strategies that associations can use to close the gap, and provide a roadmap for how we can work together to continue driving change. This panel discussion series is coordinated by the Welcoming Environment® Committee, the Women’s Executive Forum™ Program Advisory Group and Association Latinos.

The first, Advancing Equal Pay for Yourself and the Field, was March 19; the third installment will occur in October.

  • Cassie Buchanan, MBA, SHRM-CP

    Cassie Buchanan is a Human Resources Generalist at the American Society of Anesthesiologists. In this role, she oversees the day-to-day responsibilities of HR, which include onboarding, employee engagement, benefit administration, DEI, and legal compliance. She is best known for streamlining procedures and processes within her organization and creating inaugural resources for staff such as Celebration of Diversity Committees, and minority affinity groups. Her passion is implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the organization. Cassie believes that organizations can harness the full potential of their staff through HR strategies and diversity, equity, and inclusions efforts that serve both the employee and employer.

    Prior to joining ASA, she was had experience working for start-ups, logistics firms, and Fortune 500 retail companies providing her expertise to staff in most human resource functions.

    She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Roosevelt University and a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources from DeVry University. She is a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and recently awarded Association Forum’s Forty Under 40. A distinction given to association professionals that demonstrate high potential for continued success in leadership roles and exhibit a strong passion for - and commitment to - the association management and nonprofit industries.


  • Stacie East, Director of Equity and Grants, Entomological Society of America

    After graduating from the University of Chicago and Yale Law School, Stacie East practiced law for over 25 years. While practicing, she developed two professional interests: professional associations and diversity and inclusion. Stacie has served as a volunteer leader in three San Diego Bar Associations and worked as Director of the San Diego County Bar Association-Association of Corporate Counsel Diversity Fellowship Program. Prior to joining the Entomological Society of America, Stacie served as Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion at California Western School of Law. She is a credentialed as a Certified Association Executive through the American Society of Association Executives and received DEI related certifications through the National Inclusive Excellence Leadership Academy and eCornell. She is also an ASAE DELP Scholar. Presently, Stacie serves as the Entomological Society of America’s Director of Equity and Grants.

  • Jasmine E. Guy, Principal, Guydelines Consulting Group

    Jasmine E. Guy is a beacon of light, dedicated to illuminating the
    path towards positive change in communities through her
    unwavering commitment to advocacy and leadership. Her passion
    for creating safe environments, promoting equality, advocating for
    social justice, ensuring employment, housing security, and
    enhancing educational access and opportunity has positioned her
    as a transformative force in the civic landscape.
    In her role as the Principal of Guydelines Consulting Group LLC,
    Jasmine's mission is clear: to empower and inspire diverse and
    talented teams to thrive in advancing the common good of
    organizations. Also, Jasmine’s passion for enlightening others is
    demonstrated in the classroom as an Adjunct Instructor at National
    Louis University. Formerly, Jasmine was Vice President of
    Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at CCS Fundraising; Director of
    Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Major, Lindsey, & Africa,
    Diversity and Inclusion Specialist at Foley & Lardner, and held
    many human resources positions at the University of Chicago.
    Recognized as a passionate and collaborative results-driven
    strategist, she leverages over 20 years of experience in human
    resources, diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with a deep
    understanding of culture and talent management. Through
    innovative and impactful initiatives, she aligns organizational
    vision, goals, and values to foster inclusive workplace climates
    where individuals of all identities and abilities can thrive and
    engage.
    Jasmine's impact extends beyond the corporate realm, as she is a
    high-profile civic leader and sought-after speaker on DEI, social
    justice, access, and opportunity. Her recent accolades include
    being recognized as one of the Top 50 Women Leaders of Illinois
    (2022), Business Elite’s 40 Under 40 (2022), and one of Chicago’s
    most influential and inclusive leaders, selected as one of only fifty
    Chicago United – 2021 Business Leaders of Color. Additional
    honors include the Chicago Defender’s Women of Excellence
    award (2021), Chicago Scholars’ 35 Under 35 Making a Difference
    in Chicago award (2018), and the Sister Margaret Traxler
    Humanitarian award from Margaret’s Village (2017) for her
    exceptional civic engagement.
    Jasmine is actively involved in various civic organizations and
    boards, including her role as Chairman of the South Side YMCA
    Board of Directors, President of the National Association of African
    Americans in Human Resources (Chicago Chapter), and
    contributions to the boards of Margaret's Village, Jackson Park
    Advisory Council, and the Women's Board of the Chicago Urban
    League (where she served as Past President).
    An alumna of Spelman College and the University of Illinois
    Urbana-Champaign, Jasmine Guy continues to be a driving force
    for positive change, bringing hope, compassion, strategic direction,
    and vision to every endeavor she undertakes.

  • Michelle Mills Clement, FASAE, CAE, RCE, CEO, Chicago Association of REALTORS®

    Michelle is the CEO of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, the “Voice for Real Estate in Chicago.” An experienced association executive for more than thirteen years, Mills Clement previously served as president and CEO of the Commercial Brokers Association (CBA) and association executive for the Washington State Commercial Association of REALTORS®. Prior to joining CBA, Mills Clement served as the Executive Director of NAIOP Washington State Chapter, the Commercial Real Estate & Development Association, where she implemented best practices in board governance and volunteer management.
    Mills Clement is very active in the association industry. She is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE): The Center for Association Excellence and the Association Forum of Chicagoland. In 2019, she was selected as one of six association leaders for ASAE’s prestigious Fellows Program. In 2013, she was named an ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) Scholar, a prestigious executive leadership program awarded to only twelve executive-level association management professionals per year.
    Additionally, in 2019, she was named one of Crain’s Chicago Businesses’ 40 Under 40. She was also one of just 39 leaders selected to participate in the nine-month Chicago Urban League IMPACT Leadership Development Program, hosted through the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
