Formulating Core Course
The Formulating CORE course is a 90 minute video series designed to provide an understanding of formulation process including tool box, raw materials and case studies within technologies. The course includes the slide deck, 3 recording modules of approximately 30 minutes followed by a knowledge check. The exam has 30 questions, requiring greater than 80% for a passing grade and 1 CORE credit.

Bill Arendt, Emerald Kalama Chemical LLC
Bill Arendt is a Research Fellow with Emerald Kalama Chemical, LLC. For the last forty six years he has focused on new and existing plasticizer technical support and application development. Bill has presented numerous papers at ASC conventions on plasticizers, has made presentations at ASC short courses and webinars on plasticizer technology. He has 21 US patents and has several patents pending. He is an Honored Fellow of the Society of the SPE, and is SPE Vinyl division Councilor. Bill is active in ASTM C24 and D01 and American Coating Society.
Stephen Foster, Emerald Kalama Chemical LLC
Stephen Foster is an applications chemist with Emerald Performance Materials responsible for applications and development of low VOC coalescents and plasticizers. Stephen studied polymer science at the University of Southern Mississippi and attained his doctorate in 2015 in Polymer Science and Engineering. His graduate research focused on mechanical stress and epoxy-amine thermosets, examining the relationship between nano-morphology and mechanical performance. Stephen has co-delivered two professional short courses at the Waterborne Symposium, holds one patent, and authored several articles in polymer science literature.
Emily McBride, Emerald Kalama Chemical LLC
Emily McBride is the Applications Lab Supervisor at Emerald Kalama Chemical, where she focuses on product & applications development for benzoate plasticizers. She has been with Emerald for eight years. She holds a BS in Chemistry from California State University - Sacramento & an MS in Chemistry with a focus in polymers from the University of Oregon. In her free time, Emily enjoys crocheting &spending time with her husband, Tom, her 5-year-old son, Shamus, & her 20-month-old daughter, Caitlin.
