The information in the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles Certificate Course represents years and years of accepted best practices. Learn how to apply The Principles to identify and address gaps in your IG program and to prepare it for virtually any legal challenge.

This program is designed for RIM beginners and veterans alike: Beginners receive a comprehensive education in RIM because The Principles are a uniform collection of best practices and policy. Seasoned RIM professionals can learn real-world ways to apply The Principles and the Information Governance Maturity Model to assess and strengthen their information governance. This certificate is also a great “next step” for those who’ve completed the Essentials of RIM Certificate. RIM professionals who hold both certificates will be able to claim knowledge in the fundamentals of records management and in the best practices that should inform all IG professionals.  

The Essentials of the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles® Certificate program and its final exam will take approximately 13 hours to complete. Specifically, the program is comprised of the following course units:

  • The Principles and Legally Defensible Information Governance
  • Applying The Principles to Achieve Organizational Excellence
  • Introduction to the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles® 

There are no eligibility requirements for the certificate. To become an Essentials of the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles® Certificate Holder, participants must successfully complete all unit modules, unit exams, and the final exam. You have 24 months from the date of registration to complete the certificate.
