  • Devon Palermo

    Devon Palermo attended Northern Virginia Community College and completed two Associates Degrees, Health & Wellness and Applied Science. Devon was awarded the American Physical Therapy Association Northern Virginia District Clinical Excellence Award in his final rotation as a student physical therapist assistant 2003. Devon has worked in the inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings at the Medstar National Rehabilitation hospital, has worked as a clinical director and rehab manager for several private practice outpatient physical therapy clinics all while maintaining and working as an Adaptive Fitness Trainer for individuals with physical disabilities.

    In addition to being a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, he also maintains several fitness certifications including ISSA Specialist in Adaptive Fitness, NESTA Certified Personal Trainer, NESTA Biomechanics Specialist, FMS Level 1 Certified, Boxing Fitness Institute certified boxing fitness trainer.
    Devon is the founder and Director of DPI Adaptive Fitness, a fully accessible adaptive fitness gym for individuals living with or recovering from disability, his work has been recognized in the Washington Post, CBS News, and more. Devon is a recent finalist for PFP Trainer of the Year 2020 and MedFit Professional Magazine Pro of the Year 2020.

    In his spare time, he loves spending time with his wife and two kids, working out, reading and learning, and watching sports (especially boxing).

  • Joshua D’Angelo PT, DPT, OCS

    Joshua D’Angelo is a doctor of physical therapy and board certified orthopedic specialist who has co-founded and directed global organizations centered around improving access to healthcare and innovating healthcare delivery. Dr. D’Angelo co-founded MovementX, a movement health platform delivering high quality physical therapy and personal training services whenever and wherever it is needed most. MovementX’s mission is to help people move their best, so they can live their best.

    Dr. D’Angelo has served as delegate in the DC Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), as president of APTA’s Student Assembly, which represents over 25,000 physical therapy and physical therapist assistant students, and as the chair of APTA’s New Professionals Committee. In 2018, Dr. D’Angelo received APTA’s Societal Impact Award and George Washington University’s Distinguished Young Alumni Award. He is a previous recipient of the George Washington University’s George Washington Award and APTA’s Mary McMillan Scholarship, named after the physical therapy profession’s founder.

    Dr. D’Angelo has spoken nationally and internationally on physical therapy, leadership, and global health. He currently serves as CEO of MovementX, as an adjunct faculty at The George Washington University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, and on the Alumni Council of the Zell Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan.

  • Ron Masri PT, DPT, OCS, ATC, FAAOMPT

    Dr. Rony Masri, the visionary behind Total Motion Physical Therapy, has been a dedicated leader in the field of physical therapy for over two decades. Nestled in the heart of the New River Valley, his clinic reflects his unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care.

    With an impressive 25-year affiliation with the Virginia Physical Therapy Association (VPTA), Dr. Masri has been a driving force within the organization. He has assumed various leadership roles, including District Director and Valley District Chair, Membership Chair, and VPTA Private Practice SIG Chair. Furthermore, he has represented Virginia as a Delegate at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) House of Delegates, showcasing his advocacy for the profession on a broader stage.
    Currently, Dr. Masri serves as the Practice and Payor Chair for the VPTA, where he continues to shape the landscape of physical therapy in the region. His dedication extends beyond Virginia, as he imparts his knowledge as Adjunct Faculty at esteemed institutions such as South College, Baylor University, and Emory and Henry. Additionally, he contributes his expertise as faculty for Evidence in Motion and takes on the role of Clinical Instructor and Mentor for numerous Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students, orthopedic residents, and Fellows in Training.

    Dr. Masri's core values of respect, quality, trust, teamwork, compassion, and service are the cornerstones of his practice. His relentless pursuit of clinical excellence and his vocal advocacy for the physical therapy profession make him a respected figure in the field, inspiring both his peers and students alike.

  • Reiko Simmons, PT, DPT

    Reiko earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in education with a concentration in Kinesiology at the University of Virginia. She then spent time learning about the physical therapy profession locally in Charlottesville, including at PT@acac. During this time, she started her own personal journey in strength training and fitness. As a non-athlete growing up, she often felt intimidated by sports, but understood the importance of being physically active. She used her identity as a non-athlete to connect with other non-athletes to help them find fitness and strength training to lead physically active and healthy lives. Falling in love with the act of helping others grow strong and build confidence while being able to connect personally with each individual, she decided to pursue a career as a physical therapist. She went on to attend Virginia Commonwealth University and earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. In her spare time, Reiko can be found gardening, enjoying live music outdoors, cooking to entertain, and serving her community through advocacy and leadership.

    Dr. Tom Bohanon is the owner and senior Physical Therapist at InMotion Physical Therapy. He grew up in Richmond, Virginia graduating from Highland Springs High School. He received a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA in 2001 and his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2008 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Tom has extensive post-graduate training and clinical experience in orthopedics, sports medicine and treatment of the spine. He became a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist in 2004 and was recertified in 2014. In 2004, he completed the Long Term Maitland/Australian Approach to Manual Therapy course, with a focus on treating the spine and extremities. The course emphasizes skilled manual therapy, integrated with functional exercises to restore function to the injured individual and patient education. He attends multiple education courses and conferences each year to advance his knowledge and improve his skills.

    Tom worked for HealthSouth Sports Medicine and Orthopedics from 2001 to 2006. During his time at Health South he worked with professional athletes including golfers, football, baseball, and hockey players. Tom opened InMotion Physical Therapy in 2006 with the mission of providing quality direct care to patients, with a focus on research based treatments current treatment techniques, and a superior customer experience. He assisted in co-founding PTWEBUCATION.com an online continuing education company.

    Tom stays actively involved in the profession by volunteering his time to teach Physical Therapy Techniques at Virginia Commonwealth University in their Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He is active in the Virginia Physical Therapy Association working to improve Direct access and workmen's compensation laws, working to improve access to Physical Therapists for Virginians, and currently serves as the Virginia Physical Therapy Association's Chapter Legislative Chair and Delegate to the American Physical Therapy Association's House of Delegates and is the Immediate Past President of the Virginia Physical Therapy Association. He continually strives to improve his knowledge and to provide the most up-to-date care to his patients.

    Tom enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife and 3 sons Camping, fishing, boating, and practicing Judo.

  • Josh Funk, PT, DPT

    A lifelong athlete, Josh became interested in becoming a physical therapist when going through PT as a D1 lacrosse player at Ohio State. After avoiding shoulder surgery for a torn labrum and rotator cuff, Josh has been entrenched in the world of physical therapy and sports performance. Over the years, he has continually developed his knowledge base and expertise as a physical therapist, and as a business owner. A Montgomery County resident, Josh is heavily involved in all areas of the community throughout the DMV.

    Dr. Josh Funk was born and raised in Montgomery County, MD and attended Poolesville High School. Josh went on to play Division 1 lacrosse and earn a B.S. degree from The Ohio State University before earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Maryland-Baltimore. It was a little over 3 years after graduating from Maryland, that Rehab 2 Perform was founded in late 2014.

    Dr. Funk is committed to ensuring that Rehab 2 Perform is one of the most well-run and well-known health care companies in the country. Dr. Funk has immersed himself in business programs and community initiatives over the past few years in his efforts to ensure that the team and clients of Rehab 2 Perform are receiving everything they need to be at their best. Of note, he completed two business accelerator programs with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), is a Goldman Sach's 10,000 Small Businesses Graduate, and a Fellow of the Birthing of Giants program. It is his goal to push Rehab 2 Perform to the forefront of the community through innovation, progressive business operations, strategic growth and clinical excellence.
