Families, friends, and support providers are often concerned for individuals who are blind or deaf-blind to remain safe during emergency or disaster events. Come hear a personal story of survival and explore items that should be placed in an emergency bag. Consider the emotional impact and strategies for supporting recovery.
Participants will identify:
- The difference between an emergency and a disaster
- Ways to communicate between the individual who is deaf-blind and those around them
- Types of alerting systems for individuals who are deaf-blind
- Expectations of independence for individuals who are deaf-blind following an emergency.
