How to Approach Caring for the Transgender Patient: Is There a Difference?

This will be an interactive presentation on caring for the Transgender patient. This will include an exploration of personal bias, gender-affirming language, and treatment modalities. After the lecture, the participants will be able to: develop insight into individual bias, develop an expanded language around gender-affirming care, discuss barriers to care for transgender patients, and articulate health maintenance and treatments for transgender patients in primary care.

  2. Discuss barriers to care for transgender patients.
  3. Explore health maintenance and treatments for transgender patients in the primary care setting, including hormone therapy and risk/adverse effects.
