Pushing the R.E.S.E.T. Button: How to Lead a Hot Debriefing

As physicians, we have the honor of caring for others when they are at their most vulnerable. This puts physicians in a unique position to experience emotionally intense critical incidents on a regular basis. Debriefing can provide an opportunity for physicians and the healthcare team to acknowledge emotionally intense events, as well as a chance to discuss ways to improve team dynamics and patient outcomes. The R.E.S.E.T. mnemonic discussed in this lecture will provide you with a framework to start leading hot debriefs for yourself and team after critical incidents.
