Preparing the Next Generation of Clinicians To Practice in the Digital Age

Innovative technologies and digital health solutions offer enormous possibilities to novel approaches of providing safe, effective, ethical and equitable patient care. Today, digital medicine is on its way to becoming just plain medicine. While excitement and investment in technologies are rapidly increasing, the adoption and value proposition of technology for health care remains low, complex and multifaceted. The big challenge still remains—how we do close the knowledge and skills void? How do we educate future health professionals about the digital health tools in the toolbox? How do we prepare clinicians to deliver care in the digital era of healthcare? To answer that, we are introducing the new library of digital health courses, created in collaboration with the Digital Medicine Society, Rocky Vista University and ACOFP.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the emerging roles of clinicians with technological advancement and how digital health solutions can support the future of health care.
  • Discuss the benefits digital health solutions can offer to healthcare and the patient experience.
  • Evaluate new opportunities for practicing clinicians to enable efficient acquisition of new skills and incorporate “digital” in the patient care.
