Electrocardiography Review

An electrocardiogram (EKG) is a convenient and inexpensive tool that can be utilized by the family practitioner to recognize a variety of clinical entities. This course will assist the attendee in developing an understanding of EKG fundamentals. Once the basic understanding is established, the attendee will be walked through specific recognition patterns and subsequent common and uncommon case based scenarios. The goal is for the attendee to recognize and appropriately articulate EKG findings and formulate a plan based on their evaluation.

Learning Objectives

  • Establish a fundamental understanding of the normal EKG.
  • Detect life-threatening EKG changes and arrhythmias.
  • Integrate patient clinical presentations with objective EKG findings to determine next steps in patient care.
